Carapaces 01-03

2023
Variable Dimensions
Unrefined Bees Wax, Microcrystalline wax

Inspired on WWII Winkel type air-raid shelters, the Carapace series is created through a time-intensive process of layering beeswax through painting and pouring molten wax into mould casings. After partly cooling, the material form is violently ripped from its casing, and its fragments are shed on the floor where they solidify. Bee carcasses and honeycomb dirt can be observed stranded perpetually on the wax surface, echoing the limp foetal position of the discarded peels.
